Established by law in 1978, TCDHH is charged to advocate for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind, gather relating statistics, be a bureau of information, encourage the development and coordination of programs, and to advise on relating bills set before the Tennessee Legislature.
The Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities is an independent office in state government funded through the federal Developmental Disabilities Act. The Council works to ensure that Tennesseans with developmental disabilities are independent, productive, and included in their communities.
