MAKING CONNECTIONS WITH THE DEAF-BLIND COMMUNITY:

In recognition of the achievements of people who are deaf-blind, we are celebrating Helen Keller Deaf-Blind Awareness Week during the last week of June.

Event

This 6-hour FREE workshop will cover the basic requirements and training needed to be an effective SSP, and will cover medical causes of deafblindness, the practice of SSP, and communication with deafblind individuals. Attendees will be able to identify best practices in service provision for deafblind consumers, gain knowledge of guiding techniques and communication strategies for consumers with dual sensory loss, and comprehend medical model definitions of deafblindness.
