John Steinbeck's powerful story – set in California during the Great Depression – follows two migrant workers: George Milton, a sharp but uneducated, short-tempered man, and Lennie Small, a large but simple-minded man. Together they hope one day to acquire their own piece of land. But when Lennie stirs up trouble on the job, George must make a wrenching decision.
