On Thursday, June 20th, NCHAM will be hosting the webinar: "Using Remote Microphone Systems to Improve Listening and Learning for Young Children Who Are Hard of Hearing" presented by Merry Spratford.
During this webinar, we will discuss 1) why it is important for early intervention providers, parents, and audiologists to be aware of the acoustical learning environment of young children who are hard of hearing and 2) emerging evidence showing the impact of receiving remote microphone systems on children's language development.

In keeping with our theme, “Moving Forward Together”, our focus is advancing in our skills and practice while supporting each other. Whether you are licensed, nationally certified, have completed the EIPA requirements, haven’t yet taken the written and performance portions but are working as an interpreter with deaf students in the public school setting, or currently enrolled in an interpreter training program, there is something for everyone at this Summer Institute!

Nancy Steele, M.Ed. former teacher and technical assistance specialist at the National Center on Deafblindness, will provide a workshop on communication instruction for individuals with severe and multiple disabilities. The workshop includes both instruction and practical exercises. These are designed to support participants in expanding their understanding of how they might encourage children with significant disabilities to demonstrate and further develop their ability and desire to communicate.
