Organization Description

Oregon School for the Deaf is where Oregon Deaf students Belong. We are an institution steeped in tradition and a renewable dedication to equity. It is our continuing mission to create a safe and empowering learning environment, rich in language where Deaf students can thrive, entering the world with new connections.

Any child who is eligible for special education in Oregon due to being deaf or hard of hearing (see Oregon Administrative Rule 581-016-0520 for specific criteria) is potentially eligible to receive services at OSD. It is a common misunderstanding that a child must be profoundly deaf in order to attend OSD. OSD has many students who are hard of hearing.

OSD is one of the free public school placement options for deaf or hard of hearing children in Oregon. There is no cost to families for a child to attend.
