Organization Description

Established in 1977, Our mission is to improve the quality of life for Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard-of-Hearing persons by providing a wide array of services that empower them to become fully integrated into the fabric of the Knoxville and East Tennessee communities.  KCD believes in the worth of each person no matter their circumstance in life and treats each person with respect. No problem is ever discounted. We aim to do whatever we can to make the world a better place. 

Sign Language Interpreting
Our main function here at KCD is to provide high quality professional interpreting services for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing communities. The financial resources generated by our hard-working interpreting staff allows us to operate our facility and to provide the below listed programs and services. Please contact us for more information about our interpreting services.
For interpreting services outside of normal business hours (M-F, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm) please contact Partners Interpreting at (508) 699-1477.

Sign Language Classes:

Community Room
KCD has a Community Room available for rent to host parties, gatherings, club meetings, etc. There is a $50 safety deposit plus a fee for use of the room. Persons interested in reserving the Community Room must contact Becky Wood and come to KCD in person to fill out and sign the rental agreement. Payment is due at the time of reservation. Reservation requests must be made at least 15 days prior to event date.​
