TSDK - Food Service Worker

Description: 
The Food Service Worker performs a variety of routine duties in preparing and serving food at a residential school dining hall and in cleaning food service areas, equipment and utensils. The Food Service Worker also prepares and packs food for special events and for dorm meals. 

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED 
• Valid Tennessee Driver’s License 
• Minimum 3 years experience in a school setting is preferred

Terms of Employment: Full time 10 month employee

Salary: State of TN Salary Grade D - $1,920 per month

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Ensures compliance with daily food safety controls including sanitizer solution checks, dish machine temperature checks, soap and towel checks, clean and sanitized hand sinks, and cooler and freezer temperature checks. 
• Performs daily cleaning tasks in eating area to include sweeping, mopping of lobby, dining area, and food serving area, wiping down/sanitizing tables and chairs, cleaning serving line, and cleaning Dining Hall restrooms. 
• Performs weekly sanitization including cook areas, cooler areas, and all steam wells, deliming the dish machine. 
• Cleans serving, dining, kitchen, and other food service areas. 
• Refills napkins, utensil, and other containers preparatory to next serving period. 
• Cleans refrigerators, food carts, milk cooler, dishwashing machines, storerooms, coffee and tea dispensers, and all common areas. 
• Collects and throws out garbage daily, taking garbage to the dumpster. 
• May routinely assist cooks in preparation by fetching, lifting, carrying, and performing other tasks. 
• Performs set-up work in the service-dining area such as cleaning and filling ice machine, filling and maintaining steam tables, placing containers of food in steam tables, displaying plated foods on line, filling milk, juice, and fruit offerings. 
• Assists storekeeping in simple receipt, storing, and rotation of food deliveries. 
• Overtime may be required throughout the year as special events occur on campus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
• Must be able to life up to 50lbs 
• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety 
• Basic reading, writing and math skills
