Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team. As a teacher specializing in deaf and hard of hearing education, you will play a crucial role in empowering students by providing specialized instruction, support, and advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Provide direct instruction in various subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Utilize appropriate assistive technologies and resources to enhance learning experiences.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that celebrates diversity and promotes confidence among students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master s degree preferred).
- Valid state certification or licensure in Deaf Education or Special Education.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Passion for working with diverse learners and creating an inclusive educational environment.
