Join us for a Lunch and Learn with Dr. Charleen “Char” Sculley, she will provide guidance for families with Deaf infants, emphasizing early intervention, culturally informed support, and strategies for helping parents navigate resources and developmental milestones. Attendees will gain valuable insights to better support families and ensure healthy development for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.

Dr. Charleen Sculley, known as Char or Dr. Char, earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Gallaudet University and served ten years as Director for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at a mental health facility. She completed her Doctorate at Tulane University in 2024, focusing on Language Deprivation, a topic deeply personal to her and her family. Her work focuses on increasing awareness among social workers about the impact of language deprivation, emphasizing early intervention and culturally informed guidance for hearing parents of Deaf and Hard of Hearing infants. She volunteers extensively in Deaf communities and serves as President of the Tennessee Association of the Deaf, advocating for accessibility, employment, and community engagement. She is a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and shares her home with her wife and her beloved Bichon Frise, Nola.
