Organization Description
Captioned Telephone, or CapTel, service allows for a natural conversation flow — you speak directly to the other party and then listen while reading captions of what's said to you. As the other party speaks, captions of what they say appear nearly simultaneously on the bright, built-in display screen of the CapTel phone. The captioning service is free and is available in English or Spanish. Tennessee residents may be eligible to receive a free CapTel telephone through the Tennessee Telecommunications Devices Access Program (TDAP), which loans telephone equipment to people with hearing loss who qualify financially and medically. To learn more about the program, or to apply for a CapTel phone. (Please see separate list for TDAP.) Hamilton CapTel offers high quality professional outreach services to ensure people are aware of CapTel services, and that they understand how to use CapTel when making or receiving calls. If you are not sure about how CapTel works and would like to learn more about what types of relay services work best for you, contact us! Hamilton Relay Service is a free, 24-hour service that allows people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Deaf-Blind or Speech Disabled to communicate via the telephone. Through the use of specialized equipment, relay users can communicate freely with hearing friends, family and businesses.
