SPEAKER: Mike Helms, Vice President, Adult Education and Outreach for Bridges for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Nashville. He is the father of two wonderful girls.
TOPIC: “Know Your Child” Making decisions for your deaf and hard of hearing child can be difficult. This topic focuses on encouraging parents through that process.
Friday, May 31: 5-9 pm: Registration and Social
Saturday, June 1: 8am-7:30 pm: Meals, Keynote Speaker, Breakout Sessions, Vendors, and Recreation time
Sunday, June 2: 8-10am: Breakfast and departure
Session Topics will include: - Reading Support in the Home - Writing Support in the Home - Math Support in the Home - Building Relationships through Play - Approaches to Deaf Education - Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) - Hearing Aids, Cochlear Implants, Hearing Levels - Resources for Learning ASL - After High School Options - Vocational Rehabilitation -Making Decisions for Your Child’s Needs
Cost: Each person is $5 with a maximum of $20 each family. This includes meals and children’s recreational activities. (Scholarships available)
