Our understanding of the science behind spoken language development has changed dramatically in the last decade. As a result of universal newborn hearing screening, advancements in hearing technologies and access to inclusive education, children with hearing loss and their families have unprecedented opportunities to develop listening and spoken language skills on par with their peers.

The 2015 AG Bell Listening and Spoken Language Symposium will explore recent developments in brain science that help determine how infants, toddlers and children learn to understand and express spoken language—and provide practical strategies to support children with hearing loss and their families.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

  • Listening and Spoken Language Specialists (LSLS®)
  • Educators of the deaf and hard of hearing
  • Speech-language pathologists
  • Audiologists
  • Early intervention specialists
  • Special education professionals
  • Public and private school administrators
  • General education professionals
  • Social workers
  • Occupational and physical therapists
  • Public policy professionals concerned with early intervention and education of children who are deaf and hard of hearing

CONTINUING EDUCATION:

Participants will be able to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from the Alexander Graham Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language, the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and the
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

LSLS certified professionals: the symposium will offer enough continuing education hours to fulfill recertification requirements.

Professionals interested in the LSLS certification: this is an invaluable chance to earn approved CEUs towards your LSLS application requirements.

Registration Opens in January 2015
