Carnelle Scott, the black sheep of her family, decides to change her luck and reputation by entering the town's esteemed "Miss Firecracker" beauty contest. She choreographs her own tap dance routine and designs an over-the-top Star Spangled costume in the hopes of winning the crown. She is joined by her two feuding cousins, Elain and Delmount, her seamstress Popeye Jackson, pageant coordinator Tessy Mahoney, and a mysterious balloon salesman named Mac Sam.

Directed by John Carpenter, the cast includes Lakewood Theatre favorites Lauren Moore, Heather Alexander, Jill Braddock-Watson, Michael Welch, Daniel DeVault, and Asa Ambrister. Laura Lindsey makes her LTC debut in this production.
