Kimberly Strong, a Fire Education Specialist with Memphis Fire Prevention & Public Education, will facilitate this workshop with emphasis on how the Deaf and hard of hearing communities can stay safe in the event of a fire.

Participants will be provided with information designed to prepare families for the change that takes place as their child leaves early intervention services for preschool services, upon turning three years of age. The session will provide an overview of the differences between early intervention and preschool services; information about transition planning, timelines, and the evaluation process; and tips to help families have a smooth transition.

A STATEWIDE EVENT AT TENNESSEE SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF, KNOXVILLE.

June 2, 2023 Friday 4:00 – 9:00 PM EST or June 3, Saturday morning 7:00 – 8:00 AM EST families can arrive and check-in and depart on June 4, Sunday 10:00 AM EST.

Only families with deaf, hard of hearing, deaf + or DeafBlind children birth to high school (17) are allowed to attend. Hearing siblings are welcome to attend.

The Deaf. Blind. Limitless. Conference hosted by AIDB will take place in Greenville, SC on these dates: March 13th-16th.  

This event is for teachers and administrators serving Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Blind, Visually Impaired, or DeafBlind students.  CEU's, ACVREP, and RID credits will be offered to participants accordingly.

Virtual Workshop: Advanced Medical Interpreting: Ethical Practice For Interpreters - Heather Brown and Anna McDuffie

This workshop will highlight the history of medical ethics and modern, medical ethical practices. The concepts of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice will be discussed to anchor participant’s approach to in-class case studies and to guide their professional practice going forward. Strategies on how to navigate complex ethical situations will be discussed.
