Light refreshments will be served. This is an opportunity to network and build connections
with Tennessee’s families of deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing children, the professionals
who serve them, and the Deaf community!

Saturday, November 2 - 7:00am-3:30pm- Conference open

Event

KCD is offering 2 financial workshop on February 27th and 28th with the financial advisor who is Deaf and an ASL user. Both workshops are free to attend, you may attend to both or one of the workshops.

Please plan to come to learn how to finance for your estate (home, property, townhouse, condo… etc) and/or come to be prepared with our stages of life with financial.

If you are interested to attend, please contact Lara Whitfield-Garfinkel, lwhitfield@kcdtn.org to secure your spot.

Exciting News for Tennessee Interpreters and Deaf Community! 

Join us for the Statewide Virtual Meeting hosted by the Interpreting Licensure Committee on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 7 p.m. (EASTERN)/ 6 p.m. (CENTRAL) via Zoom. 

The committee, led by Megan Wylie Potts, Christina Vorreyer-Davis, and Eric Workman, has been diligently working to enhance the quality and recognition of interpreters in Tennessee.

Melissa Yingst is Deaf and Latinx who serves the community in Mental health and social Justice. She graduated from Gallaudet University BA Psychology and Grad School of Social work in Arizona. 

Melissa's passion for media is also evident in her work on her show, MELMIRA, where she fosters open and honest conversations around important social issues. Her show has garnered significant attention for its powerful impact on viewers and creating community dialogue.

Cada mes, la Sociedad Americana para Niños Sordos organiza talleres virtuales y grupos para padres latinos de niños sordos. Los talleres están diseñados para ayudar a los padres latinos a navegar a través del aprendizaje de ASL, cómo trabajar con las escuelas, empoderar a sus hijos sordos y sus hermanos, abordar el bienestar de la salud mental y muchos otros temas.
