Renowned Deaf storyteller, Peter Cook, will be performing as part of the annual Tennessee Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Conference being held at East Tennessee State University.  The performance of Southern Buffet Cookin' Up Stories in American Sign Language will begin at 7:00 pm at the Martha Culp Auditorium on the ETSU campus. His performance will be voice interpreted for the hearing. Admission is free; donations are accepted.

Spaghetti-Rama is an annual event and dinner put on by the Bridges Youth Center, and will take place this year on Friday, November 14 from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The entire community is invited to join in this fun filled evening of fine food and superb socializing.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at a cost of $10 per person, with children under 10 years old free. All proceeds will go directly to support our Youth Center. If you would like more information or to purchase tickets, you can find it on our website here.

Please join us for a time of Fellowship, fun, food, and door prizes. We will have a BAKED POTATO BAR. You can bring baked potatoes or any toppings of your choice. Attached with this flyer is a food list. We will also have special speaker: Sgt. Chris Steele, MNPD, on interactions between people with hearing loss, the police, and the 911 text system.

We have Nashville Chapter Tennessee Association of the Deaf at 10:30 a.m. business meeting followed by St. Patrick's Day themed party. Bring:Something Irish! (we have two people bringing the meat). Please reply to Steph what you plan to bring for the party. Cost: $5 if you don't bring a side, dessert or drinks. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Wear green and there is a competition for Best Costume!

Tellers-in-Residence Series - Matinee Performances:

Performances will be held at 2 PM each afternoon and last and hour.

Peter Cook is an internationally renowned deaf performing artist whose work incorporates American Sign Language, pantomime, storytelling, acting, and movement. Cook has presented his work both nationally and internationally, including at the Kennedy Center, the National Book Festival and in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Japan. He has also appeared on PBS and traveled extensively as part of the Flying Words Project to promote ASL literature.

Cook teaches at Columbia College where he received an Excellence in Teaching award. He calls Chicago home, where his favorite audience is still his son.

Peter will also provide a 45 minute Children's performance on Saturday, June 2nd at 10:30 AM.
