The session provides tools to develop confidence with equity literacy and develop skills to work effectively with people from diverse and marginalized groups. The interactive session will allow participants to think critically about how power and privilege can influence their relationships with people from marginalized groups. They will learn how to identify an opportunity to achieve equity, assess their daily practices, and develop compassion and empathy for people from marginalized groups.

KCD is offering 2 financial workshop on February 27th and 28th with the financial advisor who is Deaf and an ASL user. Both workshops are free to attend, you may attend to both or one of the workshops.

Please plan to come to learn how to finance for your estate (home, property, townhouse, condo… etc) and/or come to be prepared with our stages of life with financial.

Exciting News for Tennessee Interpreters and Deaf Community! 

Join us for the Statewide Virtual Meeting hosted by the Interpreting Licensure Committee on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 7 p.m. (EASTERN)/ 6 p.m. (CENTRAL) via Zoom. 

The committee, led by Megan Wylie Potts, Christina Vorreyer-Davis, and Eric Workman, has been diligently working to enhance the quality and recognition of interpreters in Tennessee.

Tennessee Disability Coalition

Disability Day on the Hill will be at the Cordell Hull Legislative Building in downtown Nashville. Boxed lunches will be provided.

There will be an interpreter for Disability Day on the Hill 2024.

When completing the RSVP there is a place to describe any individual accommodations needed to participate. The deadline to request accommodations is February 1st, 2024.

Disability Day on the Hill is our chance to gather as a community and take part in the legislative process. Events will be held in-person at the capitol in Nashville, and we’ll also have plenty of opportunities to participate, advocate, and celebrate virtually!
