Meet at Bridges at 9 am to ride together to Lipscomb University to learn about job opportunities at the Bison Inn and their events department. These are part-time and as-needed positions. We are excited to work with Lipscomb University as we kick off our Deaf and hard of hearing friendly employers program. Join Us! Please contact Mike Helms if you plan to attend.

The purpose of SERID Inc. shall be to hold an annual conference. State Coordinators for the Deaf in the Southeastern United States are responsible for the coordination of the conferences. The target audience includes health professionals, employers, consumers, educators, and other persons interested in issues affecting individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, and/or late-deafened; and to further knowledge concerning these issues through publications, studies, and educational programs.

TARGETED POPULATION:  Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-Blind high school students

TARGET NUMBER TO SERVE:  Maximum of 16

TARGETED TIMEFRAME:  Six-five hour sessions (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) over the span of two weeks.  Daily sessions will begin at 9:00 am and end at 2:30 pm.

A free all-inclusive retreat at YMCA Camp Widjiwagan designed to guide high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing through the college and job application process. (Lots of fun activities too: Motivational speaking, recreational Activities, visual/hands on Learning, college recruiting, team building activities, and the opportunity to meet professionals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.) Saturday only registration is available.

The TN Rehabilitation Center (TRC) in Smyrna, TN will host its third Abilities Expo as part of their National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) activities. Businesses are invited to visit the campus and see the vocational training programs in action. Prospective students, families and friends are invited to tour the grounds and meet the students. Everyone will love cruising through the many booths from sponsors, partners and employers. The cafeteria will be open for lunch at $5. The TN Career Coach will be on the grounds.

Join us for the second annual FREE all-inclusive retreat opened to all 9th-12th grade students who are deaf and hard or hearing in Tennessee. At the retreat, students will get assistance filling out college applications and job applications as well as learn from successful Deaf/HH adults about their college and work experiences.
