In honor of Deaf Awareness Month + Wine Education Week, City Winery Nashville is offering two interpreted wine experiences for the Nashville Deaf community!

Come see the winemaking facility and learn how wine is made from grape to glass, with sommelier Laura Grisham and interpreter Laura Brown! Then taste 4 wines made right here in downtown Nashville, paired with tasty meats and cheeses.

4:00 and 5:00 tours, only 20 spots available at each time, must have tickets!

Our Presenter, De Linda Brite, will provide this training for individuals with both vision and hearing loss who would like to understand what SSP (Support Services Provider) service is and how to use an SSP properly. This is also for individuals who have utilized an SSP in the past but would like to refresh their knowledge! It's Free for anyone to attend!

You are cordially invited to the 47th annual National Storytelling Festival in historic Jonesborough, TN. They are committed to making one of the performance spaces accessible throughout the entire Festival by bringing in two NIC interpreters. Their combined 50 years of experience in interpreting promise to make the Family Showcase Tent an open and inviting place for all Deaf and hard of hearing audience members.

MAKING CONNECTIONS WITH THE DEAF-BLIND COMMUNITY:

In recognition of the achievements of people who are deaf-blind, we are celebrating Helen Keller Deaf-Blind Awareness Week during the last week of June.

On Thursday, June 20th, NCHAM will be hosting the webinar: "Using Remote Microphone Systems to Improve Listening and Learning for Young Children Who Are Hard of Hearing" presented by Merry Spratford.
During this webinar, we will discuss 1) why it is important for early intervention providers, parents, and audiologists to be aware of the acoustical learning environment of young children who are hard of hearing and 2) emerging evidence showing the impact of receiving remote microphone systems on children's language development.
