Families will learn about different concepts and how they tie into how families can elevate their deaf or hard of hearing child’s language.

On World Hearing Day 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) will draw attention to the importance of early identification and intervention for hearing loss. Many people live with unidentified hearing loss, often failing to realize that they are missing out on certain sounds and words. Checking one’s hearing would be the first step towards addressing the issue.

In keeping with our theme, “Moving Forward Together”, our focus is advancing in our skills and practice while supporting each other. Whether you are licensed, nationally certified, have completed the EIPA requirements, haven’t yet taken the written and performance portions but are working as an interpreter with deaf students in the public school setting, or currently enrolled in an interpreter training program, there is something for everyone at this Summer Institute!

Hands & Voices Family Leadership in Language and Learning (FL3)'s goal is to ensure that EHDI programs, supported by federal funding in the United States, use research-based concepts known to support families, parents, and caregivers of deaf or hard of hearing infants, toddlers, and young children identified through newborn hearing screening.
