Join the Deaf Church of Brentwood Baptist for a community picnic on August 9, 2014 at 10:00am. We will meet at Shelter 1 in Fannie May Dees Park. The address is 2400 Blakemore Ave in Nashville.  Hot dogs, hamburgers & drinks will be provided for free. Cakes, cookies and drinks will be available to be auctioned and/or purchased.  Come, have fun, meet old and new friends and meet our new Pastor Aric and his family.

Tennessee’s Department of Health Newborn Hearing Screening (NHS) Program is pleased to announce a Middle Tennessee Regional Task Force meeting in Nashville that includes the Upper Cumberland and South Central districts.

A series of Basic Conversational Speech & Lipreading classes are being offered by Bridges, Center for the Deaf and HH, in Nashville. Classes begin on July 1st and continue every Tuesday until July 29th from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Classes are being taught by Ms. Ginger Jones.

About Robin Roberts: Robin Roberts is the anchor of ABC's morning show Good Morning America. Under her leadership, the broadcast has won three consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning program. Prior to that, Roberts was a contributor to ESPN. She is a native of Mississippi Gulf Coast and currently resides in New York City.

Participants will be presented with a historical narrative on audism and oppression within the larger context of society. Other topics covered will be Deaf culture, societal privilege, social justice, exploring personal views/biases, discovering common language biases, interpreting roles in and out of an educational setting, ally roles and audism. Participants will be guided through the four levels in Ally development.
