September is Deaf Awareness Month and Partnership Deaf Services is celebrating by having an Open House Event on September 12th from 4pm to 6pm. We will be inviting people from all over the community to spread awareness of the Deaf Community as well as show what Partnership Deaf Services is about. We would love to hear first hand from the Deaf Community about their life and experience. We are looking for people to come and share their story as deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing people.

We are partnering with the Hamilton County Health Department to provide an interpreted class on how to be prepared for emergencies. There are 12 slots available for this class and all who sign up will receive a free emergency kit. We will serve light refreshments starting at 5:30pm and the class will begin at 6pm.

Come to the Deaf Services Office on Halloween Day to pick up your free bag of candy. If you come in costume we will enter you in a drawing for a variety of gift cards. We will also be giving away hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and a drink! You must RSVP so we can get a head count for food. Look for more information in your email or on our Facebook page. ZOOM CLASS coming soon!

Are you interested in learning how to use ZOOM for meetings or video chatting? Maybe you know the basics but want to learn more. Partnership Services for the Deaf, Deaf/Blind, and Hard of Hearing is hosting a “How to ZOOM” class for our D/DB/HoH Community. The class will be limited to five people and will be taught in ASL. The monthly meeting of Hearing Loss Association of America, Chattanooga Chapter, is being held via Zoom. The meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. The information shared in these meetings can be very helpful and the fellowship and friendships are definitely valuable. Get together on ZOOM to make an herb garden with your friends at Partnership in Chattanooga.  From April 1-16 come to Deaf Services off ice to pick up suplies needed for teh garden. On teh 19th, Pam will demonstrate the process and you can follow along. A link to the event will be sent out a few days before the meeting.
